All of our trim kits include the following items:

  • 1 Pair – Rear Quarter Panels
  • 1 Pair – Rear Wheel Arch Covers
  • 2 Parts – Foam Backing for Wheel Arch Covers
  • 2 Parts – Pieces of Material to Cover Rear of ‘B’ Posts
  • 2 Parts – ‘B’ Post Lower Covers (Triangular Boards)
  • 1 Part – Gas Tank Board

As you would expect, we have tried to make our trim panels as authentic as possible. We have had, however, to make several compromises, usually forced on us by the reality of the volume of materials we would have to purchase.

In production, the material used for the rear wheel arch panels is made from ‘supported vinyl.’ This has a ‘fabric’ type backing. Door boards and other items with high frequency ‘welded’ patterns were made of unsupported vinyl. This is more like a basic piece of thin vinyl with the same color (but not grain) on both back and front. We have not been able to justify the manufacture of unsupported vinyl in other than black. Black is, of course, such a universal color that we can buy it as a ‘stock’ material from our suppliers. However, all our ‘non-black’ boards are covered in supported P.V.C. This material actually welds quite well and we think it actually looks very good. Incidentally, all other suppliers of TR trim use supported vinyl for their colors.

Our hardboard backings for doors and quarter panels are all die-cut. They come from a process similar to that which cuts our carpet sets. A sort of razor blade on a strong wooden bed cuts the board. All boards have the holes cut for trim edge clips but we leave you to cut the holes for the window winder and internal door handles. They move around from model to model. This may seem tricky, but if you get the hole slightly wrong remember that there is a 1 1/2″” diameter escutcheon covering the hole in the panel where the window winder or opener pokes through the panel. Small errors will not be noticed. We do cut the holes for the door closing pull which is moved from the door top to a hole in the door chassis no CF12500 onwards.

This hole for the door closing, on later models, has a plastic surround (or escutcheon) fitted to it. These were originally supplied in the same color as the door board, but are now supplied only in black.
