Description
When power is suddenly applied, usually from a standstill, the rear leaf springs “wind up” into an “S” shape which is released in a series of hops commonly called “tramp”. The anti-tramp bar allows only vertical movement of the axle, and stops the springs from winding up under load. This allows the sharp application of power and the positive transmission of that power to the tires, then to the road. Bushed with hard rubber for road use. (Note the overlapping application years – prior to 1965 all roadsters had banjo type rears. From 1965-’67 roadsters were fitted with either type. All GTs had tube type rears.)
